I have employed this strategy numerous times. Poop smells bad, and it doesn't smell any worse the longer you wait, but I learned a valuable lesson after Wanee. Don't wait too long. The flies found mine. Go a couple weeks tops.

:o Ewwwwwwwww

Whoa... um... thanks for the lesson. :? I dont think I have attempted to use a porta pottie without the enzymes. That must have been an experience cleaning it.

Try using the 'blue goo' (or in this case green, colors vary) -

You will not have a waste product that sustains maggot/bug life. I am pretty sure I have had 'stuff' sit in the holding tank for over a year without consequences. I will have (probably) have to clean one out that has been setting since WANEE 2017. Will find out.

Well... It was a camper toilet. Sat there too long because I have to tow it to dump it and just didn't get a good chance. I used two of the bottles of the treatment. I buy them in a 6 or 8 pack and use two each time. Also, they looked like fruit flies not house flies, but that's where they went. Like you said... You learn from being stupid first, but hopefully I can help someone else out. So, in conclusion: Yeah let it mellow, but not too long.

ok! Yeah, I bet a blackwater tank with only two doses gets ripe! I use about 16 ox out of a gallon in ours...a bit over what they recommend. ;) I did think you were taliking about the tiny porta pottie. With a pipe from the roof to the tank a blackwater tank has a LOT more chances to have a thriving ecosystem.

One of the features I have grown to like on our camper...a macerator pump discharge like a boat. Allows draining the tanks uphill to a toilet. Sewer access works well also. Has a 20 foot hose, can go to 50 feet long.

Poop talk. Heheheheheheh...

Instead of " I don't know s#%t about s#%t" I can now say "I know lots of s#%t about s#%t." Thanks guys...

We are waiting for progress reports on your camper! Lets GO!

And we got bored waiting.

So, logically, it devolved into poop jokes.

And I have yet to pack up the porta pottie. I have the attention span of a chipmunk sometimes. :D I will get my a** in gear tonight and dig it out.

Got the ceiling braces 1/2 done on mine, and yanked the door out of it to get rotten wood repaired. I would LOVE to start insulating this weekend.

Oh! And my Loverly lady Pattie got a new vent fan and cover. She did her shopping 'magic' at Campers world and managed to get $300 in vent fan and cover for $200. ;) Girl is a pro.

A gentle reminder: the thread title sez non-primitive ...

... it does NOT say classy and refined.

The More You Know...

well we are sorta taking it slow (could be a lot of poop talk)! ... right now in the gathering information ... figuring out our needs, etc. stage.

of course it doesn't help that our heat index for the past week has been 103-109 degrees

and yeah classy and refined are not really my strong suits : )
