Not enough women on Wanee lineup.

Thanks for bringing your gentrification crap into the ONE place in the world where race, color, gender, religion, etc does not matter.

Next discussion: why the lack of transgender musicians at Wanee?

Not doubting you Catfish, but do you a link for her comments or some context?

That crap matters nowhere... and we have anti-discrimination laws to enforce it.

I don't know Kaleigh Baker, but if Greg wanted her at the festival and couldn't get her there, I'm not sure what this letter is going to do?

Bingo! Couldn't have said it better myself!

Shannon Allman is quoted as saying that "there is no shortage of badass female talent on the market or in Wanee-esque genres to not give these countless artists an opportunity. Not because they’re women. Because they rock."

If that's the case Shannon, why don't you name them? Why don't you make this your cause? You have a platform, use it.

My feeling is that she is simply regurgitating platitudes with no thought to what she is actually saying. It's all about "the feelz."

I'm an old man....I'm deplorable (just ask Hill)....I'm all those negative things.....
but one thing I will say.....Shannon is correct....
I have asked for years to have more female participation....
And NO...I can not name that many either....
The music world has taken a turn.....not always for the better....
the days of Women belting out the blues and soul seem to be about over....There used to be many.....now not so much...Where are the Aretha's....the Donna Summers....the Janis Joplins....the Grace Slicks...the Billie Holidays....Tina Turners....Gladys Knight...Nina Simone....Patti LaBelle...
Sadly...there are few taking their places .....what we get now are the Taylor Swifts....the pop music....nothing with the soul of the past.
Sure I would love to have the Alabama Shakes.....Grace Potter (before she sold out to the same pop crap as others)....who else???

Please Wanee friends name some more.....who would you love to hear????

I loved the diversity of the music....we don't get much of that now...

We need Keb Mo....Gary Clark Jr.....Taj Mahal.....more Blind Boys of Alabama...more Dumpsta....more funk...more Rasta....

Just an old man reminiscing about the old days...and where things are headed.

Glad to hear Shannon say this is her favorite festival of all she has been to.....It is ours as well.......
We need to keep it young and vibrant.....not old and worn out like me....

... Maceo Parker, Roosevelt Collier, Robert Randolph ( I'd say George Porter and Karl Denson, but next year's lineup beat me to it!)

I have nothing against woman musicians, but adding them, for the sake of diversity, is just silly. It would be like insisting on more white guys in the NBA. A group's racial, religious, or gender percentages aren't always going to match our national demographics. It doesn't mean there's something sinister involved. 8-)
