Bummer. The Residents were an essential ingredient of my late teens / early 'adulthood'. WKSU broadcasting out of Kent State U had an overnight show that played them, Throbbing Gristle, Flying Lizards, plus local heroes Pere Ubu and Tin Huey. And many other avant / art / industrial sorts of groups. If you grew up in a place like NE Ohio amongst shuttered tire factories and belching chemical plants, you can understand how this stuff came to be.
