Umm... Joe Cocker could be Joe Cocker, doncha think?? :?

Belushi can wear the black suit and the porkpie hat, and do some dancing. I loved the Blues Bros gig, but 90% of the appeal was 1) Belushi's riveting stage magnetism, and 2) the completely badass band that Paul Shaffer put together. It wasn't John's singing that made that gig.

What about some REAL soul singers?

Sam Cooke
Marvin Gaye
Ray Charles
Jackie Wilson
Curtis Mayfield (put him on guitar too!)

And to completely blow my allotment of suggestions, I'll finish with a personal favorite~

Steve Marriott

(now THAT guy had some pipes!)

It was supposed to read , alongside John could be Joe, not John playing Joe, just the two on stage together could work for me!

Awesome!

Four guys can gang up and kill Buddy, all over again!

Well OK; three. Prince is kinda tiny for that sort of work. He can watch... Surely Prince will compose and perform a suitable song to go with the slaughter, right there on the spot.
:P
