My heart hurts, but my soul is alive with great memories of his music.
Thanks Gregg, you made my life better.

There's a Gator in the bushes , Lord, he's calling my name
And saying come on boy, you better make it back home again

Oh Gator country

A little bit of that chomp chomp

I was camping in the Red River Gorge area and when your in a holler, cell service is very spotty. When I reached a area where I had service my phone lit up with missed calls and messages.
I first checked a message from my son Evan and that's when I learned of Gregg's death.
I was / am devastated just as I'm sure many others are as well.
So I went up on the mountain to see what I could see,
the whole world was fallin' right down in front of me.
I felt as if my Soul was broken.

With the help of God and true friends, I come to realize
I still had two strong legs, and even wings to fly

And oh I, ain't wastin' time no more
Cause time goes by like hurricanes, and faster things

Evan was at the Capitol Theater NY for 2 nights seeing Phil and Friends where they did this tribute to Gregg ... -midnight- rider-cap/

He said it was a very heartfelt experience from the band and the crowd

Thank You Gregg for sharing your Gift and Love of Music with us all

Music washes away from the Soul the dust of everyday life

So very sad to hear of Gregg's passing. A musical giant, but in his case, a reluctant one.

I was geeking out with the family at the comic con in Orlando on Saturday when I read of his passing on Facebook.
:( :( :(

Later that day I found out that the Tedeschi Trucks Band was playing a show in Orlando Sunday... I had no idea! It seemed an opportunity not to be passed up. I grabbed great seats for me and Mikey (third row mezzanine!), and the band did not disappoint (of course!). They segued into Whipping Post late in the set, and also performed On My Way To Heaven by The Staple Singers, surely a nod to Gregg. Another surprise was Chevrolet, a tune resurrected from the DTB days. Another amazing show, like always from Susan and Derek.

I found this in my intermess travels this morning: a 2013 article about Gregg's best friend Chank Middleton. I think reading it today, gives a fine view of the sort of guy Gregg was. Well worth reading: ... -of-chank/

Fly free, Gregg. We all loved you so very much!

Beautiful story you linked to BBob.......even it brought tears to my eyes......
Loved what he did for Gregg.....and what Gregg did for return.

"Even in this day and age, some people can't believe a white man and a black man can be close friends. People call me his "driver". s#%t! I was never his driver. This is not some "Driving Miss Daisy" bulls#%t. We are friends who've been through a lot, and that runs deep."
How true......
