One of my favorites nobody's mentioned yet... Leftover Salmon. I'm not that into bluegrass, nor Neil Young, but the two together did it for me. It's this kind of unexpected surprise that keeps me going to Festivals. 8-)

I was there to see Bobby and my favorite moments will always involve him, but my big surprise was how much I liked the Trey band. I've never seen them live and while I am familiar enough with their material to anticipate that I would enjoy it, I didn't expect I'd like it as much as I did. That set alone would have made my weekend.

And Marcus King on the Mountain Jam is certainly worthy of note as well.

Ben Sparaco's jammie side was sweet, DSO was next to perfect with their renditions from May '77, but the Freight Train Band set the pace that I was looking to keep all weekend...

Blackberry smoke was by far the best performance followed by bob weir on Saturday. To many cover bands for my liking. Do we really need les brers, freight train and jaimoe? Too much allman brothers for one fest. Pink talking fu was fun but the prince songs sucked compared to the Bowie cuts. Again just more covers!

Maybe they need to name it the:

[b][/WANEE Cover Festival....b]

I enjoy the old covers......just saying......
And the Freight Train Band was terrific......

" five guitar players....with no mushrooms..."

My former mother-in-law used to say, "That's what makes a horserace."

Blackberry Smoke was one of my least-favorite sets.

I loved the Prince tunes, more than the Bowie ones.

This WAS and IS an Allman Brothers festival. Yes to Freight Train, Les Brers, Jaimoe (you may not have heard that set -- only a couple ABB tunes, mostly jazz and blues) and the progeny: Devon and Vaylor.
