Post Re: NEW Suwanee Fest
I'd never seen the park so empty, but I have never seen the river so packed. The water was perfect temp, and it was hot during the day. Albert Simpson played a 2.5 hr. beach set on Saturday while we all cooled off in the river. Good weekend for sure. The highlight for me was the late night jam in the loop on Friday. I had to call it quits at 4:15, and Vince and Drew and Jon Stickley were still playing. Lyndsay Pruett is a beast on the Fiddle, and the Mando player for Grandpa's Cough Medicine was a dick, but he was hilarious, so of course I thought he was OK.

I was bullshitting with Jon Stickley at the pre Jam Safety Meeting, and Vince Herman walked up and started bogarting the joint. Long enough that I was like... Dude, you done with that thing, yet?

8-)

Paul said they're planning on having more of these little mini fests (I'm assuming he meant bluegrass themed)

I like it the blues and I like the grass, but I never really caught onto bluegrass, but that was some good plucking stuff! Thanks for the links! And I always roam on the utube while I am there, cool picking!

Yeah. They could do this anytime. Very little extra staff. All of the music is in the music hall. There are no vendors, but the cafe was on overdrive. Lines at the bar were not too bad. Gates to the main music area were closed. Camping was $35 for a W/E site, per night and golf carts were $30 for the weekend. If they didn't make money they could easily make it a few bucks more and people wouldn't complain too bad. The beach stage was killer. Friday was hot. Saturday was hot, but people were in the water listening to music, so no complaints. I think the numbers were about 400-500 total people. I think the money from the Bar and Restaurant alone make it feasible to do again.

More, smaller shows are a good idea, to keep the music park humming. Wish I was not 6hrs away !!!! I would be there more often , I just love the venue !
