Dead and Co is my fave with JRAD pulling in a close 2nd! DSO probably next. That's the current bands. It's hard to rank them all including Furthur, P&F, RatDog, The Other Ones, The Dead. I loved them all. I also love Jazz is Dead!

We have a local Dead cover band here in my hometown that ranks up there with the best of them. Dead Affect! Those guys will rock your world. If you ever get a chance to see them, do so!

Another question: Are they on stage yet? Can't wait!

Should re-title this thread the Joe Russo's Almost Dead Appreciation Thread.

Listened to the 2019 Jazz Fest show (4/26/19) tonight and holy f!*k. The start of show with the jam with the Not Fade Away elements through The Wheel I don’t even have words for and the segue from Crazy fingers to Estimated Prophet is just

As I watch/listen to more 2018 and 2019 JRAD shows I think I can pretty confidently say they type II jam more than Phish does now or GD ever did. Their full band improvisation is just insane.

I like how when Joe recently took unplanned maternity leave (early arrival of the new baby!), they lined up TWO drummers to fill in for a few gigs. Russo is a flippin' beast.
:D

I'm putting that 4/26/19 show in my cue. Thanks for the heads up. I'm way overdue for some JRAD.
:ugeek:

That really cracked me up too. I mean I knew JR was a freak but didn’t realize he had extra appendages which allowed him to play the drums as if he were two people!
